According to NBC4 Washington, two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a tragic Annandale drive-by shooting that left a 14-year-old boy dead and a 16-year-old boy injured. The Annandale drive-by shooting took place at around 11:15 p.m. on Friday at the Fairmont Gardens apartments on Little River Turnpike. Fairfax County police have charged a 15-year-old boy with second-degree murder and a firearms offense. The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle was also charged with being an accomplice. The motive for the Annandale drive-by shooting is still unknown. The 14-year-old victim who was identified as Elvis Anderson Grande Gonzalez was shot in the back and died at the hospital. The 16-year-old boy who has not been named was shot in the lower body but is expected to survive. Home security camera footage captured the horrifying moment when someone in a car opened fire on a group of teens gathered on the sidewalk. The video shows the teens running for cover as more than a dozen shots were fired. Gonzalez is seen collapsing while the injured 16-year-old boy takes cover near a dumpster.

Annandale Drive-By Shooting: Community Mourns 14-Year-Old Elvis Gonzalez, Seeks Answers

A relative of Elvis who wished to remain anonymous expressed deep sorrow and mentioned that she had previously warned him about some of his friends. “I feel so bad. Terrible,” she said. Witnesses reported seeing a gray sedan speed away from the scene right after the Annandale drive-by shooting. Residents in the area have expressed fear for their safety mentioning that drug dealing is a known problem in the complex. They do not believe Elvis was the intended target. Fairfax County police confirmed that the victims were walking together when a vehicle approached and someone started shooting. Since they don’t believe the shooting was random and detectives are asking anyone with home security footage who may have any information to contribute to the investigation to watch it. Further details will be made public later this week by the police as they continue their investigation. They are devoting a lot of effort to determining the cause of this horrific event and providing the victims’ and their relatives’ families with justice.
