Castillo Pleads Guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter in Accidental Shooting

According to The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Brady Matthew Castillo 22, has pleaded guilty to accidentally killing 21-year-old Isabella Ruiz during a gunplay incident. He admitted to voluntary manslaughter and using a gun in the crime. Castillo made this plea directly to a judge without involving prosecutors. He is now in jail without bail, waiting for his sentencing on November 22.
The incident happened on March 31, 2023, when Castillo, Ruiz, and a friend were at a house on Gentian Avenue. Earlier that day Castillo had been posing with a handgun. Later that night he picked up the same gun, pointed it at Ruiz, and pulled the trigger, shooting her in the face. Ruiz was sitting at a computer and didn’t say anything before the shot. She was taken to the hospital but died about 90 minutes later.
