Detroit Man Faces Charges in Infant Daughter’s Tragic Death

A Detroit man, 24-year-old Charles Evans, faces serious charges following the tragic death of his 9-month-old daughter, Kinsley Evans. As reported by True Crime Daily, on June 26, 2023, Evans fatally assaulted the infant at their home on Schaefer Highway.

The child’s grandmother, Asia Nelson, reported signs of abuse and claimed that Evans had a history of violence towards his daughter. Despite concerns raised by family members, attempts to retrieve the child from Evans’ care were reportedly unsuccessful.

Evans appeared in court for his arraignment on March 17 and was remanded to jail. The case has prompted an investigation into the handling of the situation by Child Protective Services.

Scrutiny Mounts on Detroit Man Following Infant Daughter’s Demise

Charles Evans, the Detroit man accused in the death of his infant daughter, is under scrutiny as authorities investigate potential failures in the child welfare system. 9-month-old Kinsley Evans tragically passed away on June 26, 2023, allegedly at the hands of her father.

Concerns about Evans’ history of abuse towards the child were raised by family members, including the child’s grandmother, Asia Nelson. As reported by WXYZ, Nelson has called the police, Child Protective Services, and the probation officer of the child’s father to try to retrieve Kinsley, but they received no help. Nelson said that they were ignored and were even told that they’d get arrested if they kept calling the police. Despite efforts to intervene and retrieve the child from Evans’ care, the situation escalated, resulting in the infant’s death.

The case has prompted calls for accountability and improved protocols within Child Protective Services to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
