Vehicle Assault Leads to Murder Charge for Evanston Man Following Fatal Hit-and-Run

Evanston Resident Charged with Murder

On the South Side of Chicago, an Evanston resident is at the center of a legal storm. 38 years old, Jeremy Cummings is charged with first-degree murder.

On Wednesday, he was allegedly in a heated argument with an unnamed 30-year-old woman in a Chatham parking lot. Cummings went back into his vehicle and drove into the unnamed woman he was arguing with before, according to Fox 32 Chicago.

Witnesses are claiming that Cummings fled the scene after fatally hitting the woman with his black sedan. She was immediately brought to the University of Chicago Hospital. However, she suffered blunt force trauma injuries which led to her death later. Her identity has yet to be disclosed by authorities.

Legal Proceedings for the Evanston man

Jeremy Cummings has faced swift legal action for his fatal hit-and-run incident in a Chatham parking lot. He is charged with first-degree murder following claims of intentionally striking a woman with his black sedan after an argument. This constitutes a grave vehicle assault. The unnamed woman suffered fatal injuries and died later in the hospital.

Cummings, a resident of Evanston, was arrested at his residence on Prospect Avenue. He is to appear in court for a detention hearing. This is just the beginning of a complex legal process that will judge his guilt or innocence in this tragic incident that is rooted in the initial vehicle assault.
