According to the New York Post, a man named Alexander Smirnov who used to help the FBI is in trouble. Ex-FBI informant’s false Biden scandal about President Biden and his son’s connections to a Ukrainian businessman. A judge in California said Smirnov can’t get out of jail because he might run away. The judge worries because Smirnov has access to a bank account with a lot of money in his girlfriend’s name.

Smirnov is from both the United States and Israel. He’s been charged with two serious crimes for lying to the FBI and making up fake records. President Biden says this situation shows why Republicans should stop trying to impeach him. But Republicans say they need to keep investigating to be sure. Even though Smirnov used to work with the FBI people aren’t sure if they can trust what he says. Americans think he’s biased meaning he might not tell the truth because he has a personal preference. They also think he might have spread false stories from Russian spies. Even though he was once a helpful informant now people aren’t so sure about him.
