Suspect For The Four Shootings On Four Consecutive Days Pleads Not Guilty

Arrested on Nov. 30 after detectives and investigators matched his vehicle to be connected to the shooting deaths of three homeless men and an LA county employee, Jerrid Joseph Powell is facing life in prison without a chance of parole.

Powell’s Connection To Any Of The Four Victims, Unknown

From November 26 to November 29 of 2023, there has been shooting death in each day. Victims were Jose Bolanos, 37 killed on Nov. 26, Mark Diggs, 62, killed on Nov. 27, Nicholas Simbolon, 42, killed on Nov. 28 and Shawn Alvarez, 52, killed on November 29.

Simbolon was an LA County employee, found dead by his wife inside his Tesla in their home’s garage. The rest of the victims were homeless. LA Police Chief Michel Moore believes that the suspect, Jerrid Joseph Powell, approached each one of his victims and shot them as they slept, except for Simbolon whom he followed home from an EV charging station in West Covina.

According to a report by CBS News, he connection between Powell and his four victims are unknown.

Powell Is Facing Life In Prison Without Parole

On Monday, Jerrid Joseph Powell, 33, pleaded not guilty to the charges of murdering four persons in just four days. He was arrested on Nov. 30, 2023 after the investigators are detectives matched the car he’s driving near Santa Monica Boulevard and Rexford Drive in Beverly Hills to be the vehicle of interest in a surveillance video.

Charged with the four murders, residential robbery and carrying a concealed firearm, Powell will be facing life in prison without any possibility of parole. He’s been in jail since his arrest and is due to be back in court on April 24.
