In a recent operation by the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, Quinn Lamar Hairston was arrested on Thursday in connection with drug-related charges. The authorities, conducting a major drug bust to combat the illegal drug trade along Route 29, stopped Hairston’s vehicle on January 29. This stop resulted in the discovery of alarming items, including approximately 2,000 fentanyl pills, a substantial amount of Psilocybin mushrooms, and a loaded, stolen .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Hairston faces numerous counts, such as carrying a firearm in the hands of a violent criminal with a criminal history, possessing psilocybin with the intent to distribute, and having fentanyl with the intention of distributing. Charges may include possessing a firearm while under the influence of drugs classified as Schedule I or Schedule II, having a stolen firearm, and driving a car with a suspended license.

Sheriff Jimmy Ayers emphasized the severity of the fentanyl crisis, describing it as a major drug bust affecting communities nationwide. He commended the officers involved in the operation for their proactive approach to combating the distribution of this dangerous substance.
