Meridian resident Willie Bernard Lewis, 37, pleaded guilty to possessing 43 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute in federal court. This plea was entered Tuesday in court.
Meridian Man Faces Possible 20-Year Sentence for Methamphetamine Offenses
Lewis sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant on August 20 and 31, 2021, according to court filings. In September 2021, police performed a search warrant at his home and found 43 grams of meth and 10.9 grams of fentanyl. Lewis was convicted of cocaine sales and possession with intent.
Lewis might be sentenced on April 8, 2024, to 20 years in prison. A federal district court will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutes while sentencing him.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department and ATF investigated Lewis’s operations.

Community Safety Emphasized as Meridian Man Faces Sentencing for Drug Offenses
This legal change emphasizes law enforcement cooperation to protect the community from drug-related criminality. Lewis’s guilty plea and sentencing will uphold justice and discourage crime.
Law enforcement must continue to fight narcotics trafficking and distribution, as the case shows. Authorities hope to reduce the social impact of illegal drugs by making offenders accountable. Lewis’s earlier convictions complicate the case, underlining the need for a comprehensive judicial procedure to determine fair sentencing.
The community and concerned parties await the sentence hearing on April 8, 2024, where the court will examine the facts, consider the defendant’s past, and determine his punishment.
