New Jersey Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez was charged with bribery again for accepting money from a Qatari investment fund.
Menendez Faces Fresh Allegations in Bribery Scandal
Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez was accused again of making positive words about Qatar to help Fred Daibes, a New Jersey developer, secure a multi-million-dollar investment from a Qatari-linked company. The superseding indictment alleges that Menendez praised the Muslim nation for helping Daibes get the investment.
Daibes gifted Menendez $10,000–$24,000 costly watches in exchange for the senator’s support, according to the indictment. Daibes sent the senator photographs of the watches and asked, “How about one of these.”
Qataris may have given Menendez‘s wife Formula One Grand Prix tickets in Florida, according to new charges. The senator also received other “things of value” after Daibes won the joint venture. Indicted on bribery accusations for numerous payments, Menendez has pled not guilty to both charges.

Menendez Defiant: Denies Charges Amidst Mounting Pressure, While Democrats Join Calls for Resignation
Menendez denies the charges and refuses to resign despite the rising pressure. Adam Fee, his attorney, said the fresh allegations “stink of desperation.” Republican politicians and pundits have criticized Menendez, but Democrats like Sen. John Fetterman have called for his resignation, accusing him of serving Egypt over New Jersey.
Menendez and Daibes have pleaded not guilty.
