Florida Teen Faces Federal Charges for Alleged Threat of Thanksgiving Mass Shooting in NYC Subway

A 19-year-old boy from Florida was charged for threatening to do harm to numerous individuals, saying he would do that during Thanksgiving in New York.

The US Attorney’s office alleged that Robert Trout III, aged 19, uploaded a video on Instagram where he indicated his intent to fire into people at the New York City subway on Thanksgiving and this would result in mayhem.

In the video, Trout told New Yorkers that they should not take the train on Thursday evening. As federal officials have said, Trout’s Instagram video depicted him holding multiple firearms. “Sixty is sixty shots, sixty is sixty people dead,” they pointed out.

Court Detains Florida Teen Accused of NYC Subway Threat Pending Trial

The investigator used witness statements and recent posts on Trout’s former Instagram account (which was already deleted at that time) to establish Trout as a suspect.

This week, Trout appeared before a federal court in Tampa for a pre-trial hearing, and the judge directed that he be remanded pending his next scheduled court appearance on December 18, with no bail allowed. In case he is guilty, trout may be imprisoned for a duration of not more than 5 years.
