Mayor Adams Denies 1993 Sexual Assault Allegations in New York County Supreme Court Filing

According to source, New York City Mayor Eric Adams confronts allegations of a 1993 sexual assault, brought to light in a court document filed just before the expiration of a pertinent New York law. The accusation detailed in a summons submitted to New York County Supreme Court, asserts that Adams sexually assaulted the plaintiff in 1993 while they were both employed by the City of New York.

The comprehensive filing presented in New York County Supreme Court, includes charges of sexual assault, battery, employment discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Responding to these serious accusations a City Hall spokesperson informed CNN that Mayor Adams vehemently denies any knowledge of the accuser emphasizing his commitment to never engaging in actions to physically harm another person.

The three-page summons filed in New York County Supreme Court lists additional defendants, such as the City of New York the New York Police Department’s Transit Bureau, and the New York City Police Department Guardians Association. However New York County Supreme Court has not provided further details, and a formal complaint has not been filed.

These allegations fall under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, enacted in May 2022, introducing a one-year lookback window for adult survivors to pursue legal action in New York County Supreme Court against their alleged abusers, irrespective of the expiration of the statute of limitations. This legislative provision recognizes the common delayed disclosure among victims of sexual abuse, offering them an extended opportunity for legal recourse, explicitly within the jurisdiction of New York County Supreme Court.

The plaintiff in this case is seeking a minimum of $5 million in damages, as indicated in the filing submitted to New York County Supreme Court, and inquiries regarding the matter have been directed to City Hall by the city’s legal department and the NYPD.
