Fatal Altercation in Joliet Nursing Home Leads to First-Degree Murder Charges Against 71-Year-Old Resident

According to source, in a tragic incident, a 71-year-old man named William Paschall was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated battery following a deadly altercation at the Salem Village Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Joliet. The incident, occurring in a laundry room, originated from Paschall’s anger over another resident’s use of a washing machine.

According to the Joliet Police Department, Paschall allegedly committed first-degree murder by punching the victim multiple times in the head and using a walker to knock him to the floor during the dispute. The authorities received an alert about the situation around 9:25 p.m. on Friday night. Upon their arrival at the nursing home, the police discovered the aftermath of the violent confrontation.

The staff at the facility provided immediate medical aid to the 61-year-old victim, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office, leading to charges of first-degree murder against William Paschall.
