Tragic Accident: Motorcyclist, 33, Collides With Pickup Truck On Staten Island Highway, Resulting In Fatality

NEW YORK – The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a motorcyclist killed in a pickup truck crash on Staten Island.

A father says goodbye to his son who died in a motorcycle accident involving a pickup truck over the weekend

Upon arrival, officers observed Michael Bugliaro lying beside a pickup truck on the street with serious injuries. Further investigation revealed that Bugliaro was traveling north and was attempting to switch between lanes occupied by other vehicles when a pickup truck collided from the right lane to the left causing the vehicle to collapse. It turned out to have hit the pickup truck.

The 52-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene of the accident and was not injured. The elder Bugliaro said his son invested in safety equipment, including a $900 helmet, and was an experienced driver who avoided reckless stunts on the road. There are no arrests for the driver of the pickup truck; the investigation remains ongoing.

A spokesman said, “The motorcycle struck the driver’s door of the pickup truck as it changed lanes.” Officers from the NYPD 123rd Precinct found Bugliaro with injuries to his body next to the pickup truck at the scene of the crash.
