A 21-year-old American woman has died after being attacked by an American and pushed down a slope near Germany’s Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, according to local police.

Chan tried to stop a 30-year-old Michigan man from allegedly attacking Liu after luring her onto a path overlooking the famous castle which is visited by more than a million tourists each year. Police spokesman Holger Stabik said Chan fell about 50 meters down a steep slope but was able to leave the hospital on Friday. Stabik said police received about two dozen photos and videos on a specially created website and are urging anyone with additional footage of the suspect and victim to report it.
An investigation into the case is ongoing but it could take three to four months before authorities decide on charges
The embassy said it could not comment further at this time due to privacy concerns. The suspect whose name, like the victim had not been released due to German data protection regulations, was arrested shortly after the incident. He is being held on charges of murder, attempted murder and attempted sexual assault.
