The Authorities said a pregnant woman shot dead in the southeast on Thursday died hours after the shooting and her baby was seriously injured
Police said the shooting occurred around 11:20 a.m. at 300 37th Street in the Southeast. Gill was in a car with a man when another car stopped in the street. Two occupants of the other vehicle opened fire with assault rifles, striking Gill and the man. After being hit, the couple was able to drive northeast to Minnesota Avenue and Dixon Street. Police and other rescue workers headed there. Paramedics transported the two to the hospital. Officials expected the man to survive.
Investigations report that the incident was a targeted shooting
The suspect and his vehicle were caught on surveillance cameras. The victim’s car drove several blocks to the intersection of Minnesota and Dixon Streets. Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and said there was “a problem” in the area where the shooting took place adding that a motive had yet to be determined.
