A Bloody Mess, And A Mysterious Note About Abuse, Affidavit Reveals Gruesome Details Of Four Shootings Rampage

Joseph Eaton was charged last week with attempted murder and use of a firearm among other charges in the shooting deaths of his parents

Eaton is now indicted on charges including possession and control of a weapon after being jailed for felony assault in the highway shooting that injured Sean Halsey and his adult children Paige and Justin Halsey. The judge in the case ordered a psychiatric evaluation after Eaton’s lawyers said in court filings that Eaton had an “extensive and well-documented history of mental health-related problems.” The indictment also accuses Eaton of shooting and killing three other people.

Eaton’s former lawyer said the serial killings were “undeniably tragic”

Authorities found four bodies, three inside and one outside, and a dead dog, according to an affidavit. The affidavit describes the chaotic situation the morning the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department was alerted to the death of a man at the Bowdoin residence. Lisa Shea, the sister of Patricia Eger, who discovered the body, told authorities she had been to the house days before the horrific discovery.

Eaton has a long criminal record spanning three states. He had served time in Maine on probation violation charges and had been released from prison a few days earlier. According to Witchita Eagle, Eaton was previously convicted of burglary and theft in the Kansas juvenile justice system.
