Matthew Reilly was arrested for drug trafficking after he was found unconscious in a car with a pipe has now been arrested on sexual abuse charges.

The Providence Journal reported, citing Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist on Thursday that Riley was back in legal trouble after being arrested in North Kingston on child molestation charges. Police say Riley has been charged with first and second-degree child molestation sexual assault and seduction of a person under the age of 16. Police said the 12-year-old girl’s legal guardian filed a complaint with police headquarters on May 7 about Riley’s actions against the girl.
District Court Judge Joseph Ippolito ordered Reilly held without bail and that he undergo a competency hearing Winquist told the outlet
Reilly’s attorney, Michael J. Lepizzera Jr., confirmed in an email that Riley’s client pleaded not guilty in his first court appearance. Mr. Riley’s previous drug arrest was caught on a police officer’s body camera, showing the former city councilor sitting in the driver’s seat of a car with his mouth open and his head tilted back as police approached the car. The sergeant told Mr. Riley that he needed to enroll in a drug treatment program. Reilly had just started using drugs again, and he bought the drugs he used the day before. Riley was sent to prison, processed, and released. He resigned after a few days.
