An Indiana man charged with murdering and attempting to mutilate a woman in late July stabbed her 51 times after discovering text messages implying she was dating another man.
It all happened on July 24, 2021, at the Always Inn outside Indianapolis, where the couple lived for almost a year
Marcus Garvin, 33, was caught on surveillance cameras after he dumped the decomposing body of his girlfriend Christy Holtz, 30, in a wooded area near the motel, Indianapolis prosecutors said. He was charged with murder.
According to court documents, the man was constantly looking behind him, wondering if someone was watching.
Indianapolis police received a call around 5 a.m. about a suspicious person pulling a bed sheet that had something heavy on it toward a wooded area before turning back to a boarding room.
In a statement, Garvin told the authorities that it took about 30 minutes for Holt to die
He told investigators that he searched Holt’s cell phone while she was asleep and discovered she was dating another man. He was making fun of Holt for not having a job or going anywhere. Garvin woke Holt up and picked up a small knife and stabbed her twice in the neck. He tried to dismember Holt but was unable to cut the bone. In the end, he decides to dump her dismembered body near the motel. According to an affidavit, Garvin eventually admitted to stabbing Holt to death and reportedly said he was sorry but “of course she deserved it”.
