A Mom in Arizona disciplined her 6-year-old son by putting him into starvation and locking him as a form of discipline causing the boy to die.
The Mother will be facing the prospect o spending a lifetime in prison
Elizabeth Archibeque-Martinez, 26, was accused of murder in the first degree and child abuse. It was discovered by the authorities that the body of Deshaun Martinez was laying lifeless at Martinez’s residence in Flagstaff. When the autopsy result was released it reveals how the boy died. The cause of his death was starvation and he weighed all of 18 pounds at the time he died. An autopsy revealed that the boy had very little fat and had a “skeletal appearance”.
A typical healthy weight for a 6-year-old in the United States is well over 18 pounds
Initially, the boy’s parents told Flagstaff police that Deshawn Martinez’s extremely underweight was due to a chronic illness and that he was taking caffeine or weight loss pills. But the investigators were not convinced and later on they dug up the real reason that an extreme punishment had been in force at the Martinez Home. The parents later admitted that the way they disciplined their children is by locking them up in the closet for 16 hours per day and a very little ration of food. This type of discipline has been occurring for almost a month. In this matter, they did this kind of discipline due to their night habit of sneaking out of their beds and eating food.
