A judge this week sentenced a man who was caught on surveillance camera pouring bleach into a colleague’s soda can.
Four years in state prison for food or water poisoning after signing a non-dispute agreement
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office officials responded to an employee’s allegations of poisoning at the Dollar General store on North Woodland Boulevard on Monday, October 24, 2022. The victim told authorities he drank Pepsi and went to the bathroom. When he returned, the soda can smelled of bleach. The 7th District Attorney’s Office said the victim took a sip of the Pepsi can and didn’t need medical attention.
Surveillance cameras secured footage of the crime scene, showing how the crime was committed
Investigators have obtained surveillance video of Ellis pouring bleach into the victim’s soda can. Then he tried to unplug the camera system. Ellis and the victim reportedly got into an altercation the day before. When the officers told him he should be honest because they had seen the surveillance footage, Ellis said he smeared bleach on the rim of his drink to get revenge on a colleague who said he was “difficult to deal with”.
