Adara Bunn, 17, returned to Arthur Jensen’s home after a garage sale. Mr. Jensen said he could buy her because he had a Pocahontas mug. ‘This is the worst murder I’ve ever seen,’ the prosecutor tells people.
A promise that leads to a tragic event
On Monday, Judge Michael Sabol, Arthur Jensen, 53, a man who lured a 17-year-old girl to his home and killed her saying, she could buy a Disney mug was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the August 5, 2019 murder of Adara Bunn, according to the Iroquois County Attorney’s Office. A jury in March found him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for strangling a teenage girl who came to his home, assistant prosecutor Michael Quinlan told people. “This is one of the worst murder cases I have ever seen,” Quinlan adds.
The prime suspect was a collector of Disney memorabilia
Quinlan said Bunn and his mother went to a garage sale at Jensen’s house on August 2. “The victim returned to the Jensen residence this Sunday and wanted to speak to Jensen’s wife to see if there were any other memorabilia available for purchase.”
Quinlan said Jensen’s wife was out of town for a high school reunion at the time. Jensen and his friends’ packed flea market leftovers, and Jensen told Bunn to come back later to buy a Pocahontas mug. When Bunn returned to Jensen’s house to buy a mug on Monday, August 5, he murdered her. The crime was uncovered when neighbors heard screams from Jensen’s house. When police arrived, Jensen said, “There was a girl inside and I strangled her,” prosecutors said. Police found Bunn’s body in the house and immediately arrested Jensen.
