Police authorities arrested the mother of a 10-year-old boy and her boyfriend after the young boy was found beaten to death.
10-Year-Old Boy Was Found Beaten to Death
Leila Lopez, 20 years old and the mother of the 10-year-old boy, and her partner Johnny Brazel II, 20 years, old were with first-degree murder and child abuse after the boy was found beaten to death. The couple initially reported to the police that a dog attacked the boy leading to his death.
In a published article in FOX News, officials from the Glendale Police Department responded to their house on Tuesday after Brazell called them and reported about the boy not breathing. When they arrived, the stepfather explained what happened that caused a gash on the boy’s head.
However, police officers suspected that the boy was not attacked by a dog because of the numerous bruises found on the boy’s body. They also discovered swollen and bruised eyes, a bruised head and skull fractures. Police also said that the boy had no pulse when they arrived at the residence.

Glendale Police Department Released a Statement
Police officers from the Glendale Police Department said, “These injuries were determined to be consistent with child abuse. Upon further questioning and investigation, Brazell admitted to killing the child. Brazell indicated he had hit the child multiple times with a leather belt while dangling him in the air by his leg.”
According to a report published in 12News, they first initially reported that the boy was attacked by a dog but he later admitted that he hurt the boy. Brazell described how he dropped the boy onto a hardwood floor and swing the child’s body.
Moreover, the couple did not show any concern for the boy or even call 911 when the child was still breathing. Furthermore, was already arrested in relation to the death of the 10-year-old boy. They are also being held on $1 million cash-only bonds.
