Authorities found that a man allegedly lived with her mother’s dead body for days during the welfare check in Turbak Drive on May 5.
Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Performed Welfare Check
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office performed a welfare check at the 29000 block of Turbak Drive after they received a report. When they arrived at the home, 36-year-old Justin Carver exited the home and locked the door but officers suspected something was wrong.
In a published article in TRUE CRIME DAILY, the officers knocked at the home multiple times but there was no response. They searched the house and they noticed a foul odor that came or emitted from the property.
Meanwhile, the deputies who searched the house observed that the Florida man showed “evasive behavior and began to question him about the well-being of the victim,” According to a report published in WINK-TV, the Florida man said that he had spoken to her mother earlier that week but had not seen her after that day.

Decomposing Body Found Inside the Home
The officers discovered a decomposing body inside the home. According to a report published in Law & Crime, the dead body belongs to Layni Carver, 55 years old, and was already in the state of decomposition. Her body was discovered on a bedroom floor.
Additionally, her cause of death was not yet determined and the toxicology report will be released in the upcoming weeks. Deputies confronted Justin Carver about this matter and he said that his mother was already dead when he found her in the house.
Furthermore, Justin Carver was already charged and arrested for failing to report a death to a medical examiner and resisting an officer without violence.
