The Kansas City Police Department is currently investigating its first homicide of the new year, according to KCTV news.
The shooting took place in the early hours of January 1st, around 2:45 a.m., in the 3100 block of Elmwood Avenue.
Police were led to a residence where they discovered a male individual with gunshot injuries. Paramedics confirmed the man, identified as 40-year-old Calvin L. Bushnell, deceased at the location.
Another man was discovered at the scene with gunshot wounds, but fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Bushnell’s death is currently under investigation as a homicide. Detectives are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
It has been determined that there were multiple individuals present at the scene, but the exact cause of the incident remains unclear.
The investigators are actively collecting evidence and conducting interviews in search of potential witnesses who can provide valuable information.
