Okolona resident allegedly shoots girlfriend just hours before Christmas

William Johnson has been charged by the police with domestic violence, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The shooting took place on Christmas Eve at a residence on McDowell Street, according to Okolona Assistant Police Chief Sherry Hardin. It occurred around 10:30 p.m.

The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital and underwent major surgeries on Tuesday night, according to Hardin.

The judge decided to set Johnson’s bond at $275,000.

The Okolona Police received assistance from Chickasaw County sheriff’s investigators in handling the case.
