EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A 22-year-old Manchester man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash on Interstate 84 last year, according to state police.
Jeremy Ramos turned himself in on Monday evening after an active arrest warrant was issued for him. He faces several charges, including second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane, first-degree reckless endangerment, and operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance.
The charges relate to a crash that occurred on November 16, 2023, involving a Honda Accord, a tractor-trailer, and a box truck. Yomar Berrios, 18, of East Hartford, was a passenger in the Honda and died from injuries sustained in the crash.
State police said the incident took place around 5:45 p.m. near Exit 56. The Honda struck the rear of a semi-truck in the center lane, veered into the left lanes, then swerved back into the center lane where it collided with the back of a tractor-trailer.
No other injuries were reported in the crash. Ramos was released on a $250,000 bond and is set to appear in Manchester Superior Court on January 2.
