The 49ers feel fortunate to only be down 7-3 after one quarter. Fred Warner forced a fumble to gift the Niners great field position, but Jake Brendel got thrown out of the club and San Francisco had to settle for a field goal.
That was quite the quarter for the score to only be 7-3. The Jets went 3-for-4 on third down and it could’ve easily been perfect if Allen Lazard didn’t drop an open pass. But the 49ers won’t complain about that. They will, however, need to guard Garrett Wilson on obvious passing downs. That, and stop Breece Hall.
The 49ers offense feels like they are on the cusp of breaking it open themselves. The blocking improved on the third down on their third drive. But a curious call — a reverse pass to Brock Purdy— when you only need five yards forced a 51-yard field goal.
Don’t forget about Jordan Mason, Kyle.
