The San Francisco 49ers placed rookie wide receiver and 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List, meaning Pearsall must miss at least four games to begin the regular season.
This move comes after Pearsall was a victim of a robbery attempt over jewelry in downtown San Francisco this past weekend. Pearsall has since been released from the hospital.
Whenever Pearsall is healthy enough to return to the active roster, it will count as one of the eight return-to-roster designations you’re allotted during the regular season. According to The Athletic’s Matt Barrows, the team intends to sign offensive tackle Brandon Parker, who played on the right side during the preseason and training camp.
The 49ers have enough depth at wide receiver to get by without Pearsall, despite taking him on the first day of the 2024 NFL Draft. Football should be the last thing on Pearsall’s mind, as health remains the number one priority in his life.
