DWP £900 Cost of Living Payment Schedule

The £900 Cost of Living Payment is moreover a scheme designed to assist individuals in managing the rising costs of energy, food, and rent amid the ongoing cost of living crisis. This payment will not be included in the calculation of the benefit cap and will not affect any current benefit entitlements. The total amount of £900 is distributed in three installments. The initial payment, amounting to £301, was disbursed between April and May. The subsequent payment of £300 is anticipated in Autumn 2023, while the final installment of £299 is expected in Spring 2024.

The £900 cost of living payment is accessible to households that are recipients of the following benefits: universal credit, income-based jobseeker’s allowance, income-related employment and support allowance, income support, working tax credit, child tax credit, and pension credit.

  • For 2023/24, these recipients will get £900, divided into three payments.

  • Being sanctioned for not meeting your claimant commitment can lead to a £0 benefit.
  • However, you might still qualify for the Cost of Living Payment if certain conditions are met.
  • Deductions from your benefit for reasons like debt repayment or rent can keep you eligible.

How to Apply for DWP £900 Cost of Living Payment?

  • Individuals receiving specific benefits or tax credits may qualify for up to five payments aimed at alleviating living costs. 
  • No action is required on your part to initiate the application process; eligibility will be assessed automatically. 
  • If deemed eligible, payments will be disbursed in the same manner as regular benefit or tax credit payments
  • These payments will be issued separately and are not subject to taxes, nor will they impact your existing benefits or tax credits. 
  • If you get a Cost of Living Payment but are later deemed ineligible, you might need to return the funds.
