NFL Week 3 gets underway tonight with a divisional matchup on Thursday Night Football. The New York Jets will host the New England Patriots.
For San Francisco 49ers fans, you know the Patriots are “one of those teams that tried to get Brandon Aiyuk.” It didn’t exactly go as planned. Long story short, the Patriots made an offer to the 49ers. They had a contract for Aiyuk, but Aiyuk didn’t want to go there. It’s speculated that was because the Patriots were a deep, deep step back from the 49ers as far as a competitive team is concerned.
The Patriots surprised everyone in Week 1 with a 16-10 win over the Bengals. They also managed to hang in it with the Seahawks until overtime in a loss for Week 2. Are they going to the playoffs? Probably not. But maybe they’d be 0-2, and it’d be from some large scoring margins.
The Jets bounced back after their shellacking on Monday Night Football to the 49ers and handled their business last week against the Tenessee Titans. There wasn’t much to write about their win, however. Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdowns and went 18/30 and 178 yards. For Aaron Rodgers, that is pretty pedestrian.
I mean, if Brock Purdy did that…
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Jets favored by 6.5 points. I want to take the Patriots and the points, but no. I just don’t feel good about either one. The over-under is set at 38.5. I’d take a not-so-optimistic bet on the under tonight.
If you really want to try and make money, there are a couple of prop bets to put up. First, I’m a fan of the one touchdown and one field goal scored in each half. Not because you hit it every so often, but I feel it’s got a decent payout. The other one for this is for each team to score one rushing and one passing TD in each half. That is +25000. No, do not bet your life savings on that. Bet what you’d spend getting the food delivered and cook yourself your own meal. Once you hit that bet, order 20 pizzas and eat like a king.
Make sure they are New York style, though.
