An illegal alien has been charged with capital murder in the killing of an 11-year-old girl after a huge manhunt that led to his apprehension.

According to Houston’s KRIV-TV, 18-year-old Juan Carlos Garcia-Rodriguez was arrested on Saturday. Garcia-Rodriguez allegedly confessed fully to Maria Gonzalez’s murder and sexual abuse, according to the police. Murder charges against him carry the death penalty.
In a report from Independent Journal Review, Gonzalez’s body was found on August 12 at her family’s Pasadena, Texas apartment, in a trash bag under her own bed. According to a former roommate spoken with by KTRK, Garcia-Rodriguez, who resided in a nearby apartment, fled the city two days after the girl was discovered dead.
The culprit was captured in Louisiana’s Shreveport.
According to KTRK, Garcia-Rodriguez only recently arrived in the country in January.

The immigrant turned himself in to immigration authorities in El Paso, Texas, and was then put with sponsors in Louisiana.

To help with funeral costs, the Gonzalez family has established a GoFundMe page. On Sunday morning, $55,125 had been raised.
