Detained without bail after pleading not guilty

Following his arrest and one count of murder charges in connection with the murder and disappearance of his girlfriend, Pablo Vicente, 33, was arraigned in Salem District Court on Tuesday, according to the DA and Salem Police Chief Lucas Miller.

Mass Live reported that Nieves’ corpse was still missing by Tuesday afternoon. According to a statement from the district attorney’s office, she was the mother of an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old who are currently in the care of the state.

According to a news release, one of Vicente’s cousins phoned a Lynn police detective on Monday and said Vicente informed him he had killed Nieves and dumped her corpse in a dumpster at their Salem apartment building at 12 Pope St. Assistant district attorney A.J. Camelio revealed to the judge this information on Tuesday.

In a report from WCVB, when Salem police visited the residence in response to a request from Lynn police, they discovered proof that backed up the relative’s claims. Authorities searched for Nieves and detained Vicente early on Tuesday, according to the district attorney’s office.

Miller stated during a news conference on Tuesday that while they did not discover the woman’s corpse, they did recover what they think to be human remains in a dumpster.

The DA’s office reported that Tuesday afternoon’s hunt for her corpse was still ongoing.

Vicente has been detained before, according to Miller, who also revealed at the press conference that a restraining order was previously issued against him.

Two more kids have been given to the Department of Children & Families (DCF), according to authorities. A precise timeline of when the incidents took place is being developed by the investigators.
