Shooting Suspect Robeson County Man James ‘Boo Boo’ Chavis Faces Serious Charges

Investigations into a Robeson County man who authorities believe may be connected to a shooting that happened earlier this month are underway, according to WMBF News. 35-year-old James “Boo Boo” Earl Chavis, Jr. of Maxton has been named as the Robeson County man suspect by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. Aside from the attempted first-degree murder accusation Chavis is also charged with first- and second-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. These accusations are related to an incident that happened on July 2 at a house in Shannon on Lewis Farm Road. Deputies were called in response to gunshot reports. When law officers arrived on the scene, they found that the man had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. Thankfully, the victim’s medical care has since been discontinued.

Robeson County Authorities Seek Public Assistance in Locating James ‘Boo Boo’ Chavis Amid Shooting Investigation

Investigators with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office think the Robeson County man was involved in the shooting, even though they have not yet revealed the specific details that connected him to the crime. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) continues to help the investigation. Anybody with information about Chavis’s location or the incident itself is being asked by the authorities to come forward and help with the investigation. Since the Robeson County man is thought to be armed and dangerous it is urged that the public avoid approaching him directly. The Americans in the area have been warned to be on the lookout for any unusual activity and to report it to the police right away. The Sheriff’s Office has stressed the gravity of the allegations against Chavis and reaffirmed their dedication to protecting public safety by prosecuting him as soon as possible. Residents are urged to assist law enforcement in their continued efforts to preserve peace and security in Robeson County as well as to assist in the capture of James “Boo Boo” Earl Chavis, Jr.
