Fresh Fruits and Vegetables at Convenient Locations

Exciting news for the residents of Steuben County! The beloved Veggie Van is set to return for its third year bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to various locations around the county. Organized by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County the Veggie Van will once again offer locally grown produce to the community making healthy food options more accessible to everyone. According to WETM, starting from July 9 and running through October 1 the Veggie Van will be making its rounds on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This year while the van will revisit some familiar stops, it will also introduce new locations to better serve the community. The goal is to reach more Americans and provide a convenient way for residents to purchase fresh produce.

The Veggie Van is accessible to all and accepts a number of payment methods such as cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards, EBT/SNAP benefits and Farmers’ Market coupons for WIC recipients and senior citizens. This guarantees that fresh local produce is available to a wide range of individuals.

Here’s the Veggie Van’s schedule:

Tuesdays:

Corning: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Corning Senior Center, 1 Park Lane.
Painted Post: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Village Manor Apartments, 300 Steuben St.
Addison: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Addison Place Apartments, 42 William St.
Wednesdays:

Hornell: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Center Street Pavilion, 17 Cedar St.
Canisteo: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Canisteo Manor, 11 Fifth St.
Thursdays:

Wayland: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lincoln Court Apartments, 119 Lincoln St.
Bath: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Lakeview Apartments, 105 Geneva St.

This initiative not only encourages healthy eating but also supports local farmers by providing a platform for selling their produce. It benefits both the community and the local agricultural sector.
