$500 Monthly Aid for Qualifying Residents
Harris County Groundbreaking Income Support Initiative
According to the report of KHOU 11, Harris County just started Uplift Harris its first ever guaranteed income plan. It gives $500 every month for a year and a half to people who qualify. Lots of folks more than 82,000 applied for this program mostly from places in Harris County where many people struggle financially. After looking through all the applications carefully they chose 1,928 families to join the program.

Enrollments Open for $500 Monthly Aid
Brandon Maddox from Harris County Public Health explained how they picked the families. First, they randomly picked 6,000 people to have a chance. From those they chose the final 1,928 lucky ones. Notifications about being chosen have already been sent out. Those who got selected have four weeks to sign up. The money will start going out on April 24th for those who sign up early. Besides Uplift Harris, Access Harris is still helping out people in need. Together they making sure everyone has a fair shot at a better life.
