Palacios manages her diabetes by eating healthy and stores like Mother Nutritional Center help her do that. She use her EBT card to buy food and get money back instantly which help her afford nutritious food that might otherwise be too expensive.

Urgent Plea for Cal Fresh Funding to Keep Families Healthy

But there a problem with money. The program does not have enough funding. Even though it helps a lot of families it only got $9.65 million instead of the $338.75 million it needed. Eli Zigas, who works on food policy says it is urgent because the money is disappearing fast. Palacios and many others want Governor Gavin Newsom and other leaders to know they need this program to continue. It is not just about shopping it’s about keeping families healthy. As people come together to save the program it shows how important it is to make sure everyone can get good food no matter how much money they have.
