Permanent Connecticut Child Tax Credit

The Connecticut Nonprofit Child Tax Credit Coalition is advocating for a permanent Connecticut child tax credit. If approved, the Connecticut child tax credit will be a fully refundable child tax credit of $600 per year per child.

If the Connecticut child tax credit is approved, it will help reduce child poverty and create a fair tax system for everyone. Lawmakers believe the Connecticut child tax credit could benefit 75 percent of families in the state.

According to a published article by SmartNews, currently, 39 percent of families are struggling to make ends meet so the approval of the Connecticut child tax credit is a lot more important.

Two Proposals Regarding Tax Relief

In a published article by News 12 – Connecticut, Connecticut lawmakers are considering two proposals to provide tax relief to parents, one being the Connecticut child tax credit.

Democrats are proposing a Connecticut child tax credit of up to $150 per family with three children, increasing to a total of $1,800 over four years and phasing out for families making over $160,000 per year.

Republicans are suggesting a $2,000 tax deduction per child for all parents in line with the Connecticut child tax credit.
