Fitbit and Quest Diagnostics Join Forces to Explore Wearables’ Impact on Metabolic Health

Fitbit, the Google-owned fitness tracking company collaborates with Quest Diagnostics in the Wearables for Metabolic Health (WEAR-ME) study as per the latest published post of NS Medical Devices. The partnership aims to examine the combined potential of Fitbit devices and Quest’s laboratory tests in enhancing metabolic health, associated with conditions like heart disease and diabetes.

Unlocking Health Insights Through Wearables and Lab Tests

The WEAR-ME study, an IRB-approved pilot, targets 1,500 Fitbit users. Participants will share three months of Fitbit data, enabling a comprehensive analysis of behavioral and biometric information. The study explores how wearables influence user actions based on objective lab findings from Quest Diagnostics.

Quest Diagnostics emphasizes the positive impact wearables can have on changeable behaviors, including exercise, diet, and sleep. The collaboration seeks to empower users to make informed choices about their health by combining data analysis and lab testing.

Expected to conclude this year, the study offers participants free lab testing to evaluate metabolic health. By leveraging Fitbit data and Quest’s blood tests, the research aims to uncover insights that motivate healthy choices and disease prevention.

Quest Diagnostics’ VP Richard Adams highlights the alignment with their goal of empowering individuals to take control of their health. The collaboration leverages over 75 lab tests, providing convenient access with physician oversight, enhancing preventive healthcare without traditional doctor visits.

Participants will register and schedule lab tests via the Google Health Studies App. With results accessible through Quest Diagnostics’ app, this approach fosters a seamless experience, emphasizing convenience in managing one’s health.

The integration of Fitbit’s wearables and Quest Diagnostics’ lab tests signifies a step towards personalized and data-driven healthcare, creating a pathway for individuals to proactively manage their metabolic health.
