There is a danger in every city that residents are avoiding, and Albany NY has one of the highest crime rates in the U.S.

These numbers only show how often crime happens in certain parts of the city, compared to the city’s total crime rate.

In the year 2022, ten neighborhoods are considered dangerous in Albany.

  1. Second Avenue – No neighborhood is more deadly than Second Avenue. The average crime rate on Second Avenue is 4,708 per 100,000, 400% more than in Albany.
  2. South End – Urban deterioration has increased crime to 3,311 violent offenses per 100,000 inhabitants, lowering safety.
  3. West Hill – West Hill, with the largest population on our list, has a crime problem. It scored F’s for employment, schools, and crime, which is 215% higher than average at 2,842 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
  4. Park South – The crime rate is serious. Its 1,627 residents experience 209% more violent crimes than Albany residents.
  5. Bishop’s Gate – Your safety depends on the road, and the crime rate is high at 2,6,26 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants. Over average by 191%.
  6. Krank Park – Cherry Hill – The crime rate, employment, and education ratings (all F’s) are lowering the neighborhood. It has 58% more crime than Albany.
  7. Mansion Area – As the neighboring city developed, it lost its rich estates and has 44% more crime than Albany’s average.
  8. Central Avenue – Central Avenue shifts considerably north and south, as drivers know. Overall, Central Ave. has 24% more violent offenses than Albany.
  9. Arbor Hill – Has 17% more serious crimes than the rest of the city, with 1,060 crimes per 100,000 people. The state’s crime rate and school systems both get an F, but the cost of living gets a B-.
  10. Sheridan Hollow – The rate of serious crimes is 949 per 100,000 people, which is 5% higher than the rate in Albany as a whole. The neighborhood’s livability score drops to 63 because of the high crime rate.
