8-Year-Old Boy Shot himself in the Head, Michigan Man Was Charged with Child Abuse

A Michigan man, the father of the 8-year-old boy, was charged with child abuse after the boy shot himself in the head.

8-Year-Old Boy Shot Himself in the Head

Police authorities confirmed that an 8-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the head after he allegedly found the unsecured gun in their home. His father was charged with child abuse for the neglect and the court believed that there were still other adults who owned a gun in the home when the incident happened.

In a published article in FOX News,  state 36th District Court Magistrate Malaika Ramsey-Heath said that Kayvon Barrett, the father of the child, waited for 10 minutes before calling 911. In a statement, she said, “Calls to 911 were delayed by 10 minutes”.

Father of the Child Was Charged

According to a published article in Click On Detroit,  the prosecutor revealed that the mother of the child urged Barrett to call 911 to report the incident. She said that she told him, “You need to call 911, or I’m going to call 911”, Meanwhile, the prosecutor also said, “I honestly blame everyone in this house for not being more observant of weapons that could hurt children”.

Furthermore, the father of the 8-year-old boy was charged with four counts of second-degree child abuse. The prosecutor also told the social media outlet, “There were findings of physical neglect and physical abuse. The argument this resulted from neglect doesn’t make me real comfortable he’s not a danger to the children.”
