Bronx Day Care Owner’s Husband Arrested in Mexico in Tragic Child Overdose Case
In a troubling development, the husband of a Bronx, New York, day care owner has been arrested in Sinaloa, Mexico, in connection with the tragic overdose of a 1-year-old child earlier this month. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the DEA and the New York City Police Department, have confirmed this arrest. FOX News reports that the daycare owner’s husband, Felix Herrera Garcia, is now under scrutiny, though no direct link to the infamous Sinaloa drug trafficking cartel has been confirmed.
This arrest follows the earlier apprehension of the day care owner, Grei Mendez De Ventura, and her neighbor, Carlisto Acevedo Brito, who were charged with narcotics distribution resulting in death. These charges stemmed from the death of a 1-year-old child and the serious injuries suffered by two 2-year-old boys and an 8-month-old girl at the Bronx day care facility.
Day Care Owner’s Arrest Linked to DEA’s Identification of Sinaloa Cartel as Leading Fentanyl Trafficker
The day care owner’s arrest is linked to the DEA’s designation of the Sinaloa Cartel as the biggest fentanyl trafficking operation globally. CBS News highlighted “Los Chapitos,” the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, as potential players in fentanyl distribution and cartel leadership, despite their denials, with supporting evidence.
Mexican authorities are aggressively targeting the Sinaloa Cartel, seizing more than 600 fentanyl labs in Sinaloa connected to the Guzman family, underscoring the serious global repercussions of the fentanyl trade.
