Brian Harman Is Playing With The U.S. Ryder Cup Team

Captain Zach Johnson for the 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup team had to make six happy phone calls for his captain’s picks together with some disappointing calls. But this year, Harman did not get one of those as he finally made it to the U.S. Ryder Cup team. In a Golf Week USA Today published article, Harman reflects on how he received disappointing calls from Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, and, Davis Love III about him not being able to be included in the 2018 U.S. Ryder Cup team and 2017 and 2022 President Cup team, consecutively.

It had been a rough time for Harman before he became an automatic qualifier for the U.S. Ryder Cup team owing to a T-5 finish at last week’s BMW Championship. Harman was a two-time member of Team USA at both the Walker Cup (2005, 2009) and Palmer Cup (2006, 2007) as an amateur, during the season, Harman has achieved 11 top-25 and six top-10 finishes on Tour, with three runner-up showings aside from his win at the Open Championship.

If there’s a thing that makes Harman stand out as a player, it is his perspective to use his past experience as motivation so he can carry out his desire to be on the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Harman is set to have its first U.S. Ryder Cup team debut. Now, the 12-player U.S. Ryder Cup team is set to compete against Europe from September 29 to October 1, at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club near Rome.
