In an article published by UPI, Ukraine’s military is making progress in their counteroffensive against Russia, effectively breaking through a crucial defensive line, Gen. Mark Milley said during an interview with a Jordanian news outlet on Friday. U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley further stated that the soldiers from Ukraine have managed to infiltrate the initial line of defense set up by Russia, particularly in locations along the southern front separating the two nations.
Gen. Mark Milley added that within the axes of advancement pursued by Ukrainian forces at present, they have achieved a breakthrough in the primary defense barrier.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian forces captured Robotyne village in Southeast Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya Oblast, marking strategic progress. Reports indicate Ukrainian losses, while signs of a counteroffensive push towards Tokmak town are evident. Intensified attacks also target Russian-occupied Crimea, with an official confirming the destruction of Russia’s 126th Separate Guards Coastal Defense Brigade at Perevalne village.

Gen. Mark Milley commented on Ukraine’s counteroffensive, stating it’s early to determine success, highlighting the challenging nature of the endeavor.

The counteroffensive began in June in eastern and southern Ukraine. Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar reported that Ukrainian forces breached the Russian first line of defense and faced difficulties posed by enemy-built fortifications on elevated terrain.
