What is the Story Behind Missing Mexican Woman Maria Fernanda Sanchez?

Police in Germany confirmed on Saturday that they had discovered the body of a 24-year-old Mexican woman who went missing in Berlin at the end of July and whose case has sparked widespread interest in Mexico.

Maria Fernanda Sanchez found dead

In a report from US News, authorities said a citizen jogging along a bridge in Berlin’s Adlershof area discovered the death of Maria Fernanda Sanchez, for whom Interpol had issued a yellow search warrant.

Police said in a statement that no third-party blame can be assigned, but that the investigation is ongoing.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry said on the social networking platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that German officials had discovered the body of a lady who matched Sanchez’s description.

Possibly in an extraordinary psychological situation

Earlier this week, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said he will urge German Chancellor Angela Merkel to help in the search for Sanchez, who was a master’s student in Germany, according to local media.

According to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Mexican Embassy in Germany was in charge of informing the parents of the young Mexican, Javier Sánchez and Carolina Castaeda, who traveled to the European continent on July 25 to be aware of the investigation into his daughter’s case, reports Euro ES Euro.

In a statement issued a few days after the girl’s abduction, Berlin police stated that there were indications that the woman was in an extraordinary psychological situation.
