Drug Addict Parents Charged With Murder For Starving Infant Daughter to Death in Louisiana

Chevy Lafountain and Angel Taylor were charged with murder for starving their infant daughter to death in Louisiana. In addition, the drug addict parents were also charged with neglect and child abuse of their other toddler child.

On August 1, authorities from the Sheriff’s Department of St. John the Baptist Parish in Louisiana responded to a 911 call from Angel Taylor, 24, reporting that her 4-month-old infant daughter was not breathing. Upon arriving at the run-down trailer of Taylor and Chevy Lafountain, 31, in the community of Reserve, the authorities immediately discovered and pronounced the infant dead.

According to Coulter, Taylor claimed that the infant died in her sleep after being laid down for a nap an hour before. However, Sheriff Mike Tregre stated in a press conference that the infant had been severely neglected by the drug addict parents which led to her death. An autopsy also revealed that the infant died of dehydration, starvation, and malnourishment.

Further reports say like the deceased infant, another 13-month-old child of the drug addict parents also manifested signs of extreme neglect. Fortunately, the toddler boy was able to find a way to eat and managed to survive. In the end, the toddler was moved away from the drug addict parents and was placed in the custody of the state of Louisiana.

Charges Faced by Drug Addict Parents

According to Buchman, the drug parents were eventually arrested and faced charges of neglect, child abuse, and second-degree murder. This suggests that the drug addict parents were also charged with misdemeanors for child neglect and felony crimes for cruelty to juveniles with force or violence. In addition, Judge Nghana Lewis set bonds at $600,000 for the drug addict parents with no option to post bail at 10%.
