Iowa Highway Construction Project Continues To Second Phase in 7 Days

Contractors will continue the second phase of the Iowa Highway construction project in 7 days. Reports say a detour route was established by utilizing the Viking Road and the Hudson Road.

Starting on August 7, contractors will be continuing the second phase of the Iowa Highway construction project at Ridgeway Avenue. This suggests that crews will be closing the easterly ramps and opening the westerly ramps of U.S. Highway 20.

An article in The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier states that an overall detour route was established for the Iowa Highway construction by utilizing the Viking Road and the Hudson Road. This suggests that the crews will change the traffic on the Highway 27/58 crossover south of Viking Road and place it parallel on the Highway 27/58 in the previous southbound lanes.

Nonetheless, the north and southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on the Highway 27/58 from the city of Cedar Falls to Highway 20. This suggests that the intersection of Ridgeway and Highway 27/58 will be opened but will be reduced with lane closures. In addition, the intersection of Nordic Drive and Ridgeway Avenue will also be open. After the second phase of the Iowa Highway construction, the next stages will follow the work at the intersection of Nordic Drive and Ridgeway Avenue.

For the residents of Cedar Falls who use Riders Road within the city of Hudson, the Ranchero Road will be utilized for the Iowa Highway construction. To date, crews are paving the last section of the roadway between the Riders Road and the Highway 20 ramps.

Next Phase of Iowa Highway Construction

According to an article in the Iowa Department of Transportation, tentatively, the Butterfield Road will be opened between the Riders Road and Highway 20 on August 21 for the Iowa Highway construction. However, the south of Riders Road will be temporarily closed for around four months. This suggests that the Riders Road in Hudson will be accessible only from the Highway 20 and the Ridgeway Avenue which is toward the north in Cedar Falls.
