Hunter Biden Plea Deal Delayed As Judge Declines to Approve Defendant’s Not Guilty Pleas

Hunter Biden plea deal was delayed after Judge Maryellen Noreika declined to approve his not guilty pleas to three charges. Reports say Noreika postponed further proceedings for U.S. President Biden’s son for a month or more.

On July 26, Hunter Biden plea deal was blocked after prosecutors and the defendant’s attorneys disagreed about the extent of the agreement. In addition, U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika delayed the approval of the Hunter Biden plea deal. Prosecutors also stated that the federal investigation into Hunter is still ongoing.

An article in Politico states that after compelling both sides for information about the Hunter Biden plea deal, Noreika adjourned the hearing to rectify the agreement. Reports say Hunter intends to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax offenses to likely avoid facing charges on a felony firearm.

In 2017 and 2018, Hunter reportedly faced charges for willfully failing to file or pay his income taxes. In 2018, Hunter was also charged with owning a handgun after admitting to regularly using cocaine. This is because the federal laws prohibit drug users from possessing any firearm.

Hunter Biden Plea Deal Delayed

According to The New York Times, the Hunter Biden plea deal ended up with not guilty pleas to all three charges which compelled Noreika to postpone further proceedings for a month or more. This suggests that the prosecutors and Hunter’s attorneys will now have to fulfill Noreika’s concerns about the technical aspects of the agreement.

Reports say if Noreika approves the Hunter Biden plea deal in the end, Hunter will be able to take back the not guilty pleas he entered. In addition, Hunter will be able to replace the please with guilty on the tax charges and the Department of Justice would postpone prosecution on the firearm charge.
