After an exhaustive 12-day investigation of Rex Heuermann‘s disorderly Long Island residence in connection with the Gilgo Beach murder case, investigators have discovered a substantial volume of potential evidence, Raw Story News reported.
12-Day Scouring of Rex Heuermann’s Home
The search, which concluded recently, has provided crucial leads in the cold-case killings of three sex workers on Long Island in 2009 and 2010. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney, while cautious not to reveal specifics, confirmed that various items of interest were discovered during the thorough investigation.
Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old real estate executive, was arrested on July 13 in Manhattan and pleaded innocent to murder charges one day later in connection with the deaths of three sex workers. Authorities are now probing whether the killings occurred inside Rex Heuermann’s Massapequa Park home, which was subject to meticulous searching, including a walk-in basement vault.
Tierney emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and analysts and forensic teams will take the necessary time to analyze the discovered evidence, including potential DNA samples. The goal is to build a comprehensive case against the suspect, which may involve connecting the evidence found during the search to the cold-case killings of multiple victims.
The suspect’s alleged involvement goes beyond the three known victims. Investigators have identified Rex Heuermann as the prime suspect in the murder of a fourth individual in a separate suburban case from 2007. This individual was last seen alive on July 9, 2007, making the investigation even more complex.
In the course of the investigation, authorities have explored other locations in addition to Rex Heuermann’s residence. A tip from a Long Island pimp last year and DNA evidence recovered from a pizza crust in the suspect’s trash played a critical role in leading investigators to Rex Heuermann and his green Chevrolet Avalanche.
Furthermore, Rex Heuermann is linked to six other victims found in Gilgo Beach, including four women, an Asian man dressed as a woman, and a child. Investigators even excavated the defendant’s suburban backyard in their search for additional evidence.

Ongoing Investigation Into Rex Heuermann’s Murder Case
The ongoing investigation into Rex Heuermann’s potential involvement in multiple murders has been intensified with a comprehensive 12-day search of his Long Island home, Daily News reported. The discovery of significant potential evidence has opened new avenues for prosecutors and forensic experts to build a strong case against the suspect.
While the specifics of the evidence remain undisclosed, the relentless efforts of law enforcement and cooperation with various partners aim to bring justice to the victims and their families. As the investigation continues, authorities are actively considering the possibility of additional cold cases linked to the suspect in other states, adding to the complexity and scope of this chilling case.
