Over 170 Dogs, 27 Other Animals Rescued From Poor Living Conditions in Pennsylvania Home

Around 200 animals rescued from a home in Pennsylvania were suffering from poor living conditions. Reports say authorities initially responded to the residence when a person had died there last July 14.

Authorities recently rescued around 200 animals from a home in Pennsylvania. Reports say authorities initially responded to the residence in Effort, Monroe County when a person had died there last July 14.

According to Vacchiano, among the 200 animals rescued, 170 were dogs and the majority of them were both adult and puppy Jack Russell terrier mixes, In addition, among the 200 animals rescued, 12 were cats, 4 were rabbits, 3 were finches, 2 were guinea pigs, peacocks, and chickens each, a dove, and a parakeet.

In a press release, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Pennsylvania stated that the animals rescued were due to the Coroner’s office’s concern about the huge number of animals on the property, their poor living conditions, and possible lack of veterinary care.

Owners of Animals Rescued

According to an article in 6ABC, the CEO of the Pennsylvania SPCA, Julie Klim, states that the owners of the animals rescued were overwhelmed by the number of them on the property. To date, authorities are conducting an investigation into the allegations of animal cruelty or neglect. In addition, Klim stated that anyone who is looking to adopt animals may consider adopting one or any of the animals rescued that are currently in their shelters.
