AARAC After the California Reparations Task Force

According to Kennedy, more than a week after the California Reparations Task Force’s plan, the African American Reparations Advisory Committee (AARAC) published its final report and proposed policy solutions to rectify the damages. In 2021, the AARAC members and subcommittees were established and studied public policy, health, education, and economic empowerment.

The AARAC made headlines when the San Francisco Board of Supervisors accepted its proposal of one-time payments worth $5 million to eligible individuals and a guaranteed household income of at least $97,000 for 250 years. In addition to the proposals for financial assistance, the final report also included loan forgiveness, tax credits, $1 housing options, and a core curriculum on Black history and culture in public schools.
